CAREGIVER RESPITE

Faithful Servants Foundation is dedicated to providing temporary relief to a primary caregiver who is charged with the continuous support and care of an adult who is elderly, disabled, and dependent on others.
Caregivers are physically, emotionally, and mentally challenged daily by the care they give to others. This can rapidly lead to burnout and exhaustion, which may be accompanied by a change in attitude, from positive and caring to negative and unconcerned.
Oftentimes, Caregivers don't get the help they need when they are overwhelmed physically or financially. They experience feelings of guilt if they spend important time on themselves, rather than on the care of an elderly loved one.
The symptoms of caregiver burnout are similar to the symptoms of stress and depression. They include:
-
Withdrawal from friends, family, and other loved ones
-
Loss of interest in activities previously enjoyed
-
Feeling blue, irritable, hopeless, and helpless
-
Changes in appetite, weight, or both
-
Changes in sleep patterns
-
Getting sick more often
-
Feelings of helplessness, leading to thoughts of self-harm or harm to those in their care
-
Emotional, physical, and mental fatigue
-
Irritability
If you or someone you know is facing the struggles of caregiving found within this information, please reach out to us. It’s why we exist. We are here to help facilitate the right environment to provide the rest and relaxation needed for self-help and renewal for those who give so much of themselves to others. They must also care for themselves.
There are scholarship opportunities available to help facilitate these needs, if necessary.
